We will be filming a half-hour documentary looking at how the recession and
financial crisis has impacted incarceration in America. I am interested in trying to
locate some of the following story lines:
States cutting budgets and decreasing prison populations. Faster access to parole, etc.
Prisons cutting corners due to decreased budgets- i.e. cutting food, medical,
security or other services resulting in injury, sickness or death of inmates.
Facilities that hold geriatric and elderly patients- how much money is spent
incarcerating the elderly?
Any other interesting programs in place to help decrease state prison populations
because of budgetary constraints.
All ideas are welcome, thanks again for all your help with our work!
Cheers,
Jeremy
