Ahlam Mohsen, 23, is in jail after alledgedly throwing a pie into the face
of Michigan Senator Carl Levin, and faces up to five years in prison. She
is charged with stalking and assault. Mohsen alledgedly threw the applie
pie after a colleague stood up during a town meeting with Levin and
rebuked him for his war crimes.
Mohsen was arrested in a January 2009 sit-in at Levin's office to
peacefully protest his support for Israel, where she lived for several
months doing peaceful solidarity work in the West Bank, until she was
beaten, arrested, and deported by Israeli officials during an illegal
housing eviction in Sheikh Jarrah. Ahlam did what all of us have a
responsibility to do: she took action to thwart injustice commited on her
behalf as a Michigan resident and American citizen.
Please call Senator Levin's office at 313-226-6020 and demand they tell
Big Rapids prosecutors to drop all charges and call the jail and politely
demand vegan food 231-592-0157.
