Resolutions from the Conference On Raza Prisoners and Colonialism

PRISONS: TERROR FOR THE POOR PROFITS FOR THE RICH!

The following are two proposals for resolutions to the Conference On Raza Prisoners
and Colonialism, held in San Diego, Califaztl, on June 11,
2011. (At the 2012 conference and evaluation of the outcomes of the resolutions will
be made)
RESOLUTION ONE:
WHEREAS, the Chicano Mexicano Prison Project (CMPP) has held yearly conferences on
the question of Raza and the capitalist\colonial
prison system since 1997; and
WHEREAS, if we combined the number of participants at these conference it would
total more than one thousand participants (women
and men of all ages); and
WHEREAS, these participants have been social justice activists,
professors/educators, workers, ex\pintos, and community residents, and
are therefore representatives of the Mexican\Raza community at\large; and
WHEREAS, they (the more than one thousand who have attended the CMPP conferences)
have unanimously, through open dialogue,
critique, and vote, has supported the political line and stance of the CMPP, a
stance that condemns the U.S. Prison and Criminal Justice System as
tools of US. Capitalism/colonialism used to oppressed Mexicano\Raza, African,
Asian\Pacific, and other nations within its imperialist borders
Therefore be it resolved, that the attendees and participants of this conference
will actively support:
one\year campaign with the objective exposing the U.S. Prison and Criminal
Justice System as weapons of colonialism that on a daily and
systematic basis, tortures and terrorizes Mexicano\Raza, other oppressed
peoples.1. The Campaign will utilize all forms of means and forms of media
(Internet, radio, film, newspapers, flyers, etc.) to achieve its objective
2. Will unite/or work with as many progressive and revolutionary forces possible,
who are willing to support the campaign objective.
3. A Committee Of Resistance to Prison Torture/Terror of 5 to 6 members will be
created to coordinate the work of the campaign and ensure that
its objective is being carried out.
4. The committee will ensure that no less than one media/propaganda activity (press
release, video, declaration, podcast, etc.) is produced every
month.
5. All present at the conference will assist, in anyway possible (producing
propaganda, disseminating information, financial contribution, etc.) that
the objective of the campaign is realized.
RESOLUION TWO:
WHEREAS, the Chicano Mexicano Prison Project (CMPP) is a
non\government/non\corporate funded organization and refuses money
from these institutions as they are the enemy of the our people;
WHEREAS, the CMPP needs the financial support of the all progressive people and
forces Co continue its work, especially producing and
mailing its newsletter, Las Calles y La Torcida, to prisoners;
Therefore be it resolved, that the attendees and participants of this conference
will actively support:
ONE\YEAR FUND RAISING CAMPAIGNby:
1. Individuals attending the conference commit themselves to donating at least 10 a
month to the CMPP; or
2. Organizing a fundraiser for the work of the CMPP
