Whether for a week, a month, a year, or 10 years... Solitary Confinement is
Torture! A minimum of 20,000 prisoners are in solitary at any given time in the
United States. Devasting effects begin to develop as soon as seven days in
isolation. In 2002, a California prison psychiatrist told Human Rights Watch:
"It's a standard psychiatric concept, if you put people in isolation, they will go
insane... Most people in isolation will fall apart."
Free Prisoners from Solitary! Free Leonard Peltier!
