Angola 3 - support the SF 8 & mark 35 years of solitary confinement

April 17, 2007
Today, the Coalition to Free the Angola Three commemorates the 35th year of incarceration in solitary confinement of both Albert Woodfox and Herman Wallace for a crime they did not commit.

Albert and Herman have the unfortunate distinction of being held in solitary longer than anyone else in the U.S.A. Along with Robert King, the three have served over one hundred years in solitary confinement.

We have faith that Herman and Albert will soon join Robert King, released in February 2001, who continues to work for their freedom and to speak out about the prison-industrial complex wherever he travels.

We believe that the truth will be heard and that between the law and the people, Herman and Albert will ultimately be set free. There is no question that there is a concerted effort to re-write history and denigrate the black liberation and civil rights movements.

The Coalition affirms our solidarity with political prisoners everywhere and make special note this year of the shameful case of the San Francisco 8, eight men, re-arrested for a crime they were exonerated of over thirty-five years ago The Angola Three and their supporters stand firm in the face of this revisionism and support the 8’s efforts to be free.

Free Albert and Herman. Free the San Francisco 8 and, Free All Political Prisoners

[In a true act of solidarity, the Angola 3 recently made a very generous donation to support the defense of the San Francisco 8!]
