Oscar Lopez Rivera: 12 people to call the Parole Commission on Tuesdays?

Subject: 12 people to call the Parole Commission on Tuesdays?

Hi everyone,

Our friends in the campaign to free Oscar are asking that we resume calls to the
Parole Commission, asking them to reverse their denial of his petition. Whether or
not we are able to convince them to reverse their position, we would like to show
that there is a solid core group of people who will persist in the work to free him.

Personally, I realize that it is difficult to go back to many people, asking them to
respond in this way over and over again. I am writing to just a dozen people whom I
believe to be strongly committed to Oscar's freedom in the hope that you will each
be willing to make a 30-second call to the Parole Commission on Tuesdays (our day to
join forces with people from other cities). This phase is only expected to last a
few weeks, until the Parole Commission responds to his appeal, which he must submit
by March 18. Of course it would be wonderful if you feel that there are others that
you can ask to join in this effort, but if not, I am hoping that you will at least
be able to do this yourself. I know that Oscar, as a community organizer,
understands the difficulty of maintaining large numbers in a prolonged struggle. I
don't believe that he expects us to produce extremely high numbers in this phase,
especially coming from areas outside of Chicago where this issue is not well known
or supported. All that matters is that those of us who DO understand and believe in
this issue respond as we are able.

Will you please let me know if you join in this effort for the next several Tuesdays
until his appeal is adjudicated?

Thank you!
Nozomi

Hi, I’m calling for the release of Oscar López # 87651-024 and I live in Cleveland
(etc.)
The Parole Commission should reconsider
its order denying him parole, and grant him
immediate parole.
