Mumia Abu-Jamal Keeps Resisting, as Supporters Find Hope in January Hearing

The Mobilization to Free Mumia Abu-Jamal will be meeting on Saturday
morning, December 2nd, at 10:30am at 298 Valencia St. The Mobe will be
reporting on important news in the struggle to free Mumia, as critical oral
arguments will be presented in a hearing in the 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals
early in 2007. At the meeting, plans will also be made for next February's
visit that Lynne Stewart and Center for Constitutional Rights President
Michael Ratner will make to the Bay Area. At events in Berkeley, San
Francisco, San Jose, and Palo Alto, they will raise funds and consciousness
for Mumia's and Lynne's legal and political defenses.

Michael Schiffmann's new book-- "Race Against Death. Mumia Abu-Jamal: a
Black Revolutionary in White America" was released in Germany this past
month. Schiffman is reportedly still trying to find a US publisher. The book
details information about a new witness and new evidence, and analyzes

On Saturday, December 9th, people all over the world will mark the 25th year
of Mumia's incarceration. In the Bay Area, there will be several
opportunities to learn more about Mumia's case. In San Jose, there will be a
teach-In about Mumia from 10am-2pm at Temekula Gallery behind the
Pagesincolor.com store at 888 E Santa Clara St. Books and CD's by and about
Mumia will be available at two additional Bay Area events: at 2pm at Modern
Times Bookstore (888 Valencia), and at 7pm at the Berkeley Fellowship of
Unitarian Universalists, 1924 Cedar St. at Bonita.

On Friday, January 26th, 2007, a special event to commemorate Mumia's
resistance and 25 years of incarceration on death row will be held at 6:30
pm at Marcus Book Store, 3900 Martin Luther King, Jr. Way in Oakland. Guests
that evening will include Kiilu Nyasha, Revolutionary Journalist and former
Black Panther; JR, of Prisoners of Conscience Committee; and Rudy and the
United Playaz.
