Resist the Grand Jury in Minnesota

EWOK! (Earth Warriors are OK!)

At least five Texas activists have been subpoenaed to a Grand Jury in
Minnesota, and we residents of the Twin Cities have a chance to act in
solidarity with them as they resist their subpoenas and refuse cooperation
with the State.

OCTOBER 19: GRAND JURY INFO SESSION
Join us for a session on grand juries- what they are, what rights you
have, how to resist them.
*When: Sunday, Oct 19, 6:30pm-8:30pm
*Where: Walker Community Church, 3104 16th Ave. S., Minneapolis

OCTOBER 21: PEOPLE'S FISHING EXPEDITION
The Feds are going fishing, so we are too! Join us in front of the Federal
Courthouse as we speak out and offer moral support to our comrades under
subpoena inside. Put on your fishing clothes and bring your gear- while
the Feds offer indictments and betrayal, we'll be offering prizes and
solidarity. Rally, stand strong, show the Feds they can't intimidate us
into cooperating.
*When: Tuesday, Oct 21, 8:30am-10:30am
*Where: Federal Courthouse, 300 S. 4th St., Minneapolis

More info: Currently, two individuals from Austin, TX are in federal
detention in MN, facing felony charges as a result of alleged plans made
for the 2008 RNC- we believe the Grand Jury relates to this situation.
Grand Juries are an incredibly coercive and secretive tool of the State-
they are "fishing expeditions," meant to force people to name names and
give other, often seemingly-innocuous, information that may produce
indictments and spur new investigations that strain our organizing
communities and put our comrades behind bars. Those subpoenaed to a Grand
Jury are not allowed to have a lawyer present as they are questioned, and
face months at a time in jail for refusing to answer questions or
otherwise cooperate. Whatever your feelings about the recent RNC
protests, Grand Juries are a dangerous tool of State repression that bear
negative implications for everyone. Whoever it is today, it could be you
tomorrow.
