Urgent ELP! Bulletin (5th of February 2008)

Dear friends

ELP is trying to get more information about this, but we've just received the following e-mail about some of the Il Silvestre defendants. We believe the case being referred to is the one where a number of Il Silvestre activists were accused of using explosives to destroy an electricty pylon in protest at nuclear power stations. More worringly they were also accused of waging war against the State.

As I said, we are trying to gain more information about this, including what exactly the defendants have been convicted of, but below is the latest Il Silvestre update.

All three prisoners are well known Il Silvestre activists and deserve our support. Please send urgent letters of support to all three and also if anyone has any more info please contact ELP as soon as possible. Thank you.

Twenty months after their arrest regarding the investigation “affinity groups” of Silvestre, Beppe, Fede and Alice are finally set free. To Federico has been applied special surveillance, Alice is obliged to stay in her place of residence while Beppe has prohibition to stay in Pisa. Silvia still is domiciliary while Costantino, Daniele and Francese are in jail. A summon of the pre-sentencing date has arrived, it is set on april 24, 2008... two years after the arrests. The seat of Italian eco-anarchist group “Il Silvestre” has closed down...
